Rio Ferdinand Slams Chelsea’s Transfer Policy After Defeat To Dortmund

UK News

Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand was impressed with Chelsea’s performance against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League on Wednesday despite the 1-0 defeat. Ferdinand noted that the Blues were lacking a natural No.9, having spent over £550 million on transfers since the Todd Boehly takeover but only bringing in Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as their sole senior striker. Despite the lack of a clinical finisher, Ferdinand praised Graham Potter’s work at Chelsea, noting that the team had been able to pass the ball through the lines and get into good areas.

Potter also shared Ferdinand’s view, noting that the team created a lot of chances but just failed to score. He praised the attitude of the team and said that the supporters had given them a fantastic reception, showing that they could see the team making progress.

With scoring goals the side’s biggest problem by far, it remains to be seen whether or not Chelsea can address this issue and improve their recent run of form. For more news and stories related to sport, head over to Metro Sport.
