Norwegian school rethinking wall materials

Norcros Plc

In the Norwegian town of Lørenskog, just outside Oslo, a new upper secondary school was completed. Instead of the traditional ceramic tiles often found in public sector buildings, the project team specified waterproof wall panels from Fibo.

Bathrooms, changing rooms and toilets throughout the facility were fitted with Fibo’s panel system. One of the project leads pointed to personal experience with Fibo panels installed over 40 years ago that remained in excellent condition.

The project was led by Akershus County Municipality, with construction beginning in December 2023 on the site of a former car park. The shell of the building was completed by the end of 2024, and final work concluded in August 2025.

Three panel finishes, Light Sand, Warm Grey and Dusty Blue, were used across the wet areas to create a coherent, functional interior. Dusty Blue featured prominently in multiple locations to strengthen the school’s visual identity.
