Wizz Air reports 25.9% passenger growth in August

Wizz Air

Wizz Air Holdings Plc (LON:WIZZ) has reported passenger growth of 25.9% year-on-year in August 2026.

Wizz Air carried 8.70 million passengers in August, an increase of 25.9% year-on-year, with capacity rising 24.8% to 9.10 million seats. This was a slowdown from the 30.4% rate of seat growth seen in July but remains consistent with Wizz Air’s guidance for seat growth in the high twenties percent for the September quarter. The load factor for the month was 95.6%, up 0.8ppts year-over-year.

Recent events of note:

·      A third Spanish base at Santiago de Compostela was announced at the end of July. While the focus on Spain last month was dominated by the base announcements for Madrid and Valenica on 10 July, to open in November of this year, Wizz Air also announced on 30 July that it would open a base at Santiago de Compostela. This will see one based aircraft offering services from 1 February, 2027, to five domestic and two international destinations.

·      Wizz Air delivers a significant upgrade to its mobile app. Wizz Air unveiled a completely redesigned My Journey platform as part of the airlines’ Customer First Compass initiative. This delivers clearer guidance, real-time flight information, personalised travel guidance and simplified service management up to the point of departure and is another example of the improving customer related infrastructure of the business.
