RM’s work with Hendon School shows how a managed service provider can become part of a customer’s long-term technology planning, not just its day-to-day support function.
Hendon School, a 1,200-pupil single-academy trust secondary school with sixth form in north-west London, has spent the past three years reshaping its technology environment. The programme has focused on three core areas: replacing legacy classroom equipment, moving key systems into the cloud and upgrading the wider infrastructure needed to support more flexible working. RM sits across all three.
The classroom upgrade is the most visible part of the change. Traditional projectors and desktop computers have been replaced with smart boards in every classroom. That matters because the school is not describing a narrow hardware refresh. It is describing a shift in how teaching is delivered, with staff and pupils using the boards as a standard part of lessons.
The school also used the change to remove the need for teachers to have both desktop and laptop devices. That points to a practical cost benefit, but it also shows RM participating in decisions about estate simplification and resource allocation.
Hendon has shifted from physical on-site servers towards cloud-based systems, including a move from a server-based management information system to a cloud alternative, while making broader use of Microsoft 365. In simple terms, the school is reducing reliance on older infrastructure and using cloud tools to improve resilience, flexibility and collaboration.
