RM Technology has entered a national partnership with the Digital Poverty Alliance to widen access to one-to-one student devices across UK schools.
The agreement brings RM Technology’s device programmes into the Digital Poverty Alliance’s Tech4Learning scheme. Schools will be able to use the platform to fund device access more consistently, combining hardware with insurance and warranty support.
The partnership addresses a clear operational challenge in UK education. Although most secondary school pupils are expected to complete online work every week, one in five children does not have access to a suitable device at home. Many rely on smartphones for assignments that require larger screens, specialist software or extended periods of study.
For RM Technology, the arrangement strengthens its position in school technology procurement by linking its device offering with an established national programme focused on digital inclusion. It also gives schools a clearer route to finance one-to-one device schemes at a time when affordability remains a major barrier.
The Tech4Learning portal allows schools and parents to manage donations transparently. Eligible contributions can also attract an additional 25 per cent through Gift Aid, increasing the funding available for device purchases.
RM Technology is adding further financial support through HP’s Brighter Future and Lenovo’s ConnectEd schemes. Schools can claim up to £125 in cashback per device through HP and up to £150 through Lenovo when old devices are traded in. The proceeds can then be reinvested in wider digital priorities.
RM Technology was HP’s leading Brighter Future partner for the second consecutive year. Through the scheme, £660,000 in cashback was returned to schools and 6,131 devices were given a second life. This provides evidence that the company already has experience delivering trade-in programmes at scale.
The Digital Poverty Alliance is working to end digital poverty by 2030 through research, advocacy and delivery programmes. Its Tech4Learning scheme is designed to improve access to devices, connectivity and digital skills.
