James Cropper shows recycled paper strength in children’s book market

James Cropper has supplied recycled paper for a new children’s book by local author Charlotte Mason-Curl.

The book, ‘Elf Chloe’s Surprise’, has been created for children under five and supports The Kids Party Pact, a campaign encouraging families to reduce waste linked to children’s parties and gifts. Its sustainability message is carried through into the book itself, which is printed on James Cropper’s Vanguard paper.

Vanguard contains 40% recycled content. In this case, each copy of the book includes the equivalent of three recycled coffee cups recovered through James Cropper’s CupCycling programme.

A children’s book needs strong colour, a smooth finish and a quality feel. James Cropper said Vanguard provides those features while also using recycled fibre. The author’s book has a waste-reduction theme, and the choice of paper supports that message.

Charlotte Mason-Curl is based near Kendal, close to James Cropper’s Burneside mill. The company also sponsored the book launch at Ragtag Arts & Community Scrapstore in Kendal. That adds a community angle while keeping the focus on the company’s paper technology and product use.

James Cropper plc (LON:CRPR) is a market leader in Advanced Materials and Paper & Packaging. The Group’s Advanced Materials products incorporate pioneering nonwovens and electrochemical coatings for its customers globally, including components in fuel cells and hydrogen electrolysis.
