Wizz Air carried 4,740,815 passengers in January, 14.2% increase year-on-year

Wizz Air

Wizz Air Holdings Plc (LON:WIZZ), the fastest growing and one of the most sustainable European airlines, today announces passenger and CO2 emission statistics for January 2024.

In January 2024, Wizz Air carried 4,740,815 passengers, representing a 14.2% increase year-on-year, at a load factor of 82.0% (primarily attributable to an increase in one-directional VFR traffic and the reallocation of capacity in response to evolving geopolitical events). Wizz Air is actively implementing measures to optimize our network and adapt to these dynamic conditions, with the aim of enhancing efficiency and supporting a recovery in load factors going forward.

The airline continued to grow its network and improve its customer offering in January. During the month:

·      Wizz Air reinstated flights between Aqaba (Jordan) and Abu Dhabi, starting from 4th February.

·      Wizz Air announced it will restart operations into Tel Aviv, with routes from Budapest, Sofia, Bucharest, Krakow, London and Rome opening from the beginning of March.

·      The UK’s Civil Aviation Authority confirmed Wizz Air is fully compliant with commitments made to customers.

·      Wizz Air continues to consistently report the lowest CO2 emissions per passenger/km among competitor airlines, with 51.8 grams per passenger/km for the rolling 12 months to 31 January 2024. For the month of January, CO2 emissions were 54.9 grams per passenger/km (7.2% higher than the same month last year).
