Meren Energy advances production and Orange Basin growth strategy

Meren Energy Inc

Meren Energy will participate in African Energy Week 2026 as a Silver Partner, highlighting its transition into a larger independent upstream producer with established production in Nigeria and exploration exposure across the Orange Basin.

The event will take place in Cape Town from 12 to 16 October 2026. Meren will use the platform to present its current production base, financing position and plans for future development.

Formerly Africa Oil Corp., the company rebranded as Meren Energy in May 2025. This transition accelerated in July 2025 when Meren completed the consolidation of Prime Oil & Gas. The transaction doubled its working interest production and reserves and increased its exposure to major deepwater assets in Nigeria.

Nigeria is now the core of Meren’s business. Through Prime, the company holds interests in the Akpo, Egina and Agbami offshore fields. These assets generate almost all of its current cash flow and benefit from Brent-linked pricing, low lifting costs and long production lives.

In the first quarter of 2026, Meren reported entitlement production of approximately 31,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day. The company maintained full-year guidance of around 30,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day.

Meren has also improved its financing position. The company refinanced its reserve-based lending facility, increased commitments to $600 million and extended the facility’s maturity to 2032.

Alongside its Nigerian production, Meren is building exposure to future growth in the Orange Basin.

In Namibia, the company holds an effective interest in the Venus discovery through its investment in Impact Oil & Gas. Following a restructuring announced in May 2026, Impact became a more focused Namibia business centred on advancing Venus towards a final investment decision.

TotalEnergies leads the project. Venus is one of the most significant offshore discoveries in the region and could become an important source of future production. Its value to Meren will depend on development timing, capital requirements and project execution.

Meren Energy Inc (MER.TO) is a leading independent, full-cycle E&P with production and development assets in deepwater Nigeria, a leading carried position in the Orange Basin across Namibia and South Africa, and operated licences in Equatorial Guinea.
