Meren Energy is highlighting its investment interests in Nigeria and Equatorial Guinea, focusing on partnerships with established operators and opportunities to develop gas and exploration assets.
In Nigeria, Meren holds interests in deepwater fields operated by major energy companies, including Chevron and TotalEnergies. The approach allows Meren to invest in energy assets while relying on experienced operators to manage technical and operational activities.
The company’s investment strategy separates asset ownership from operational execution, allowing capital to be allocated across its portfolio. Cash flow from producing assets can also support shareholder returns and future investment.
At Africa Energy Week 2026 in Cape Town, Meren’s Country Manager, Jero Tojaka, participated in the Invest in Equatorial Guinea panel to discuss the company’s position and upstream investment opportunities.
Meren operates two blocks in Equatorial Guinea, holding an 80% interest in each. Block EG-31 offers gas development and exploration potential, while Block EG-18 is a frontier exploration opportunity.
Discussions also covered plans to expand Equatorial Guinea’s Gas Mega Hub, using existing infrastructure to support future development. Cooperation between upstream producers and midstream operators will be important to progressing these opportunities.
Meren Energy Inc (MER.TO) is a leading independent, full-cycle E&P with production and development assets in deepwater Nigeria, a leading carried position in the Orange Basin across Namibia and South Africa, and operated licences in Equatorial Guinea.
