Gold regains momentum ahead of a key Federal Reserve decision

Gold strengthened on Wednesday, reaching its highest level in around two weeks as renewed demand, geopolitical tension and expectations surrounding the Federal Reserve supported the market.

Spot gold moved above $4,100 after buyers returned near the important $4,000 level. The rebound followed a sharp weekly decline, but the recovery shows that demand remains active when prices approach key support.

The return above $4,100 improves the near-term outlook and places attention on whether gold can build a more sustained advance. The move also highlights the metal’s continued role as a defensive asset during periods of political and economic uncertainty.

Tensions in the Middle East have increased demand for assets viewed as stores of value. Ongoing military activity involving the United States and Iran has raised concerns over energy supplies, international shipping and wider regional stability.

The Strait of Hormuz remains a central focus because of its importance to global oil flows. Disruption in the Red Sea has added further pressure to shipping routes and strengthened concerns about the security of energy supplies.

These developments have supported gold by increasing demand for protection against geopolitical risk. The metal has also benefited from renewed buying after its recent decline, with lower prices encouraging market participants to rebuild exposure.
