EDX Medical Group is supporting a major prostate cancer testing initiative in Scotland that will offer free tests to men aged 40 to 80 during 2026. The Scottish Prostate Cancer Initiative aims to test 25,000 men, helping to identify cases earlier and gather data that may support future screening and treatment decisions.
Rather than being limited to laboratory development or internal research, the company’s diagnostic work is being applied in a real-world setting at meaningful scale.
The process is designed to be simple for participants. Men provide a blood sample, with no physical examination required. Results are sent directly and confidentially within 48 hours, along with guidance on any next steps. This approach helps reduce common barriers to testing, such as inconvenience, embarrassment or uncertainty about the process.
After the initial PSA testing, selected samples will undergo additional innovative diagnostic tests for research purposes. The goal is to collect data that could help shape future screening and treatment protocols.
The initiative is being run with the Graham Fulford Charitable Trust, a prostate health awareness charity. This partnership brings together public health outreach and diagnostic capability. It may help the programme reach men who might otherwise avoid or delay testing, which is important because early detection can improve treatment options. The project is also supported by Scottish sporting figures, businesses and organisations, giving it wider visibility across the target population.
EDX Medical Group plc (LON:EDX) is a UK-based listed company focused on the development of diagnostic tests that enable personalised treatment for cancer, cardiovascular and infectious diseases.
