At its Cruachan Visitor Centre near Loch Awe, Drax hosted a seasonal fundraising event in partnership with Oban RNLI, underlining its engagement with local communities close to key operational assets. The initiative offered a platform for the Oban RNLI Fundraising Group to raise awareness and collect donations in support of the volunteer lifeboat service that operates across the west coast of Scotland.
Visitors to the Centre were invited to browse and purchase Christmas cards, calendars and branded merchandise provided by the RNLI team. Alongside the pop-up stall, Drax contributed the proceeds from refreshments served during the event, with the combined effort raising over £650 for the charity. The partnership builds on existing support, following a previous £1,500 grant from the Drax Community Fund earlier in 2025 to assist with the RNLI’s running costs.
The Cruachan Visitor Centre, located at the base of the company’s pumped storage hydro station known as the Hollow Mountain, provides an accessible point of contact between the business and the public. It also serves as a communications platform for explaining the role of flexible, low-carbon power assets in the UK’s energy transition. Events such as this one offer Drax an opportunity to strengthen its position within the local community, while supporting organisations that contribute to regional safety and resilience.
Drax Group plc (LON:DRX), trading as Drax, is a power generation business. The principal downstream enterprises are based in the UK and include Drax Power Limited, which runs the biomass fuelled Drax power station, near Selby in North Yorkshire.
