Firering Strategic Minerals is continuing its transition towards an industrial minerals business through its 45% stake in Limeco, which has expanded commercial activity in Zambia and begun exporting hydrated lime to Malawi.
Limeco produces industrial-grade hydrated lime for use in construction, water treatment, agriculture and paint manufacturing. Its latest export development extends its customer reach beyond Zambia and supports the company’s plans to grow sales across the region.
The move into Malawi follows the development of Limeco’s production and commercial operations. The company is focused on supplying industrial customers with lime for a range of applications, with product consistency and safety forming part of its operating approach.
Firering’s 45% interest in Limeco provides exposure to the growth of the business, with no further acquisition payments required. As production increases and commercial sales become established, Limeco is taking a more central role in Firering’s development.
The global lime market provides a broad industrial demand base. Market Data Forecast valued the market at US$44.3 billion in 2025 and projects it will reach US$56.5 billion by 2034. Mining and metallurgy are among the major end-use sectors, with lime also used in construction, water treatment and other industrial processes.
Firering Strategic Minerals plc (LON:FRG) is an emerging quicklime producer and critical minerals explorer, with operations in Zambia and West Africa.
