Australasian Metals is preparing to resume exploration at the Atex lithium project in northern Côte d’Ivoire following a gap of more than two years in drilling activity.
The Australian company announced on 29 September 2026 that it was preparing access tracks for an auger drilling campaign. The work is intended to collect shallow samples to help identify areas for more detailed exploration. The company is also reviewing historical drilling samples and geological data to refine its understanding of the project.
The preparations follow Australasian Metals’ agreement with Firering Strategic Minerals for an exclusive 90-day option to acquire up to a 75% interest in Atex. The option, secured in September, allows Australasian Metals to undertake technical and commercial due diligence before deciding whether to proceed with the acquisition.
The proposed transaction has not yet been completed, and the company must assess the available geological information and project requirements before making a final decision.
Firering Strategic Minerals plc (LON:FRG) is an emerging quicklime producer and critical minerals explorer, with operations in Zambia and West Africa.
