Cizzle Bio has published updated guidance for healthcare providers on the clinical use and ordering of its CIZ1B biomarker blood test, which is designed to provide additional information when assessing lung cancer risk.
The test measures levels of a specific variant of the CIZ1 protein associated with lung cancer. Results indicate whether the biomarker is elevated or non-elevated and are intended to support clinical assessment alongside a patient’s medical history, symptoms, risk factors and imaging results.
The test is currently available through licensed healthcare providers in the Dallas-Fort Worth and San Antonio metropolitan areas. Clinicians must complete an account registration and onboarding process before accessing the provider portal to place orders and receive results.
Cizzle Bio identifies several potential applications, including patients with established lung cancer risk factors, pulmonary nodules, symptoms requiring investigation and significant occupational or environmental exposures. It may also provide additional information for patients undergoing screening or follow-up.
The company stresses that CIZ1B is not intended to replace low-dose computed tomography (LDCT), diagnostic imaging, biopsies or specialist assessment. Results should be interpreted by a healthcare professional as part of a comprehensive evaluation, with further testing arranged where appropriate.
The guidance sets out the steps for providers to access clinical resources, submit account details and complete onboarding. Cizzle Bio’s Medical Affairs team is also available to answer questions about the test’s clinical use.
The publication supports the company’s efforts to establish a provider network for its lung cancer testing service. Wider adoption will depend on clinical evidence, healthcare provider engagement and the test’s role within established diagnostic pathways.
Cizzle Biotechnology Holdings plc (LON:CIZ) is a pioneering cancer diagnostics company, originally a spin-out from the University of York, and now listed on the London Stock Exchange.
