Cizzle Bio backs cancer research award linked to early detection focus

Cizzle Biotechnology Holdings plc

Cizzle Bio has recognised Morgan Simons, MD, of NYU Grossman School of Medicine, as the newly announced recipient of the 2026 Conquer Cancer Behnke Family Young Investigator Award, established in honour of cancer survivor Ella Behnke.

The award underlines Cizzle Bio’s connection to cancer research, biomarker science and the wider drive to improve diagnosis and treatment decisions for patients.

The award also reflects the personal commitment of Cizzle Bio founder and chief executive Bill Behnke and the Behnke family to supporting cancer research. This helps reinforce the company’s long-term focus on early detection and patient outcomes.

Dr Simons’ research is centred on advanced melanoma. Her work looks at immune signals that may show how patients respond to certain combination immunotherapy treatments, and whether they are at risk of treatment-related toxicity. The aim is to identify biomarkers that could help doctors make treatment more precise, effective and safer.

As oncology becomes more targeted, the ability to detect and interpret biological signals is increasingly important.
