Ampeak Energy gains full approval for Mey BESS

Ampeak Energy Limited

Ampeak Energy has secured full planning consent for its Mey Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), following final approval from the Scottish Government’s Energy Consents Unit. The decision removes the last regulatory barrier and positions the company to move ahead with one of its key UK projects.

The Highland Council had initially objected to the development, but that position changed after Ampeak submitted further technical information. The matter returned to the North Planning Applications Committee in September, where councillors reviewed the updated case. Councillors highlighted the opportunity the project presents for economic growth in Caithness. The vote to withdraw the objection passed by a wide margin, enabling the national consents process to proceed.

Ampeak Energy Limited (LON:AMP) a developer, owner and operator of sustainable energy projects. Transitioning to become a major Independent Power Producer (IPP) with a project development arm specialising in Battery Storage and Tidal Stream generation.
