Adaptix has secured CE certification for its Ortho350 system, marking a key step towards wider commercial deployment of its orthopaedic imaging technology in the UK and Europe.
The milestone was recognised during a visit to the company’s Edinburgh facility by Dr Scott Arthur MP, arranged through AXREM, the Association of Health Technology Providers. The visit gave Adaptix an opportunity to present its compact 3D X-ray technology at a point when regulatory clearance is helping to move the company closer to broader clinical adoption.
CE certification reduces a major regulatory barrier for the Ortho350 and supports its use in human orthopaedic imaging. The system is designed to image hands, elbows, shoulders, knees and feet, using digital tomosynthesis to produce 3D images at a lower radiation dose than traditional CT.
Adaptix is positioning the Ortho350 as a practical alternative to conventional imaging routes in selected clinical settings. The company says the system can provide clearer images than standard 2D X-rays, while offering fast digital image capture and reconstruction.
The certification also broadens Adaptix’s commercial opportunity. The company already sells its technology into veterinary and industrial non-destructive testing markets, as well as the US orthopaedic market. Approval for the Ortho350 now gives Adaptix a clearer route into UK and European human healthcare markets, creating another potential revenue channel from its existing imaging platform.
