Verici Dx expands kidney transplant research through US clinical trial agreement

Verici Dx Plc

Verici Dx has secured an order from Asahi Kasei Therapeutics to provide blood-based biomarker testing for a Phase 2 clinical trial investigating pegrizeprument, adding a new application for its molecular diagnostic technology in kidney transplantation research.

The agreement will see Verici Dx provide testing that includes its predictive transplant rejection assay (PTRA) as an exploratory research tool. The work is intended to help researchers understand biological responses to treatment and investigate factors that may influence outcomes following kidney transplantation.

The study will assess pegrizeprument, an investigational immunosuppressive therapy being developed for the prevention of acute rejection in solid organ transplant recipients. Verici Dx’s role will be to provide molecular biomarker analysis to support the research programme. The financial value of the order has not been disclosed, and the testing is intended for exploratory research rather than routine clinical decision-making.

The agreement reflects the potential for transplant diagnostics to contribute to pharmaceutical research and development. By examining biological signals in blood samples, researchers can investigate how patients respond to treatment and whether particular molecular patterns are associated with transplant outcomes. Such findings may help inform future research into more personalised approaches to post-transplant care, although the clinical significance of any results will need to be established through further studies.

Verici Dx’s PTRA assay is part of its wider diagnostic offering for kidney transplantation. The company is developing blood-based tests designed to assess biological responses and the risk of transplant rejection. Its Tutivia test is intended to assess the risk of acute rejection following a kidney transplant, providing clinicians with additional information to support patient management.

The company has also welcomed the launch of the US Department of Health and Human Services’ 2026 Kidney Care National Plan. The initiative focuses on preventing kidney failure, improving dialysis care and reforming transplantation.

Verici Dx Plc (LON:VRCI) is developing a complementary suite of proprietary, leading-edge tests forming a kidney transplant diagnostics platform for personalised patient and organ response risk to assist clinicians in medical management for improved patient outcomes.
