Sintana Energy is among the independent energy companies being highlighted ahead of African Energy Week 2026, as the event prepares to bring investors, governments and energy companies together in Cape Town from 12th to 16th October.
African Energy Chamber Executive Chairman NJ Ayuk has identified Sintana alongside other African-focused independents expected to participate in discussions around exploration, development and investment opportunities across the continent.
For Sintana, the event comes as the company continues to build its exposure to exploration opportunities in Namibia and Angola. Its portfolio includes interests across multiple licences in Namibia, as well as interests in Uruguay and an emerging position in Angola’s onshore Kwanza Basin.
The company’s African portfolio is centred on Namibia, where Sintana has exposure to several petroleum exploration licences in the Orange Basin. This includes an indirect carried interest in PEL 83, which contains the Mopane discoveries, alongside interests in PEL 79, PEL 87 and PEL 90.
Mopane remains a significant part of Sintana’s Namibia exposure. The company is positioned for further exploration and appraisal activity in the area as the operator progresses plans for additional wells. Sintana’s exposure to the Orange Basin gives it a position within one of the areas attracting substantial international exploration activity.
Sintana is also advancing its involvement in Angola. In September, the company announced definitive agreements relating to its acquisition of an indirect 5% participating interest in Block KON-16 in the onshore Kwanza Basin. The transaction also provides Sintana with a 2.5% net profit interest in Corcel’s proceeds from the block after first oil, subject to the terms announced by the company.
The Kwanza Basin is part of Angola’s effort to encourage renewed exploration activity onshore. Sintana’s planned interest gives the company exposure to another African petroleum jurisdiction alongside its Namibia assets.
African Energy Week is expected to focus heavily on investment, exploration, project financing and partnerships, with operators and governments presenting opportunities across Africa. The African Energy Chamber has said the event is intended to connect project developers with investors, financiers, technology providers and potential partners.
Sintana Energy Inc (TSX-V:SEI, OTCQX:SEUSF) is a public oil and natural gas exploration company listed on the Toronto Venture Exchange.
