Ruffer Investment Company appoints Colleen McHugh as a non-executive director

Ruffer Investment Company Limited (LON:RICA) has announced the appointment of Colleen McHugh as a non-executive director of the Company with effect from 1 June 2024. Mrs McHugh will be a member of the Company’s Audit and Risk Committee as well as the Management Engagement Committee.

Mrs McHugh has over 25 years of international experience in investment management and banking. She has held senior positions at HSBC, Barclays Wealth and Investment Management and has led the wealth management division of Butterfield Bank Guernsey. Mrs McHugh was more recently Managing Director of 1818 Venture Capital and has current non-executive director experience of the London listed FTSE 250 Real Estate Credit Investments Ltd.

Mrs McHugh brings extensive experience in multi-asset management for Fiduciary, Insurance and High Net Worth clients and is an independent investment committee member of the UK digital investment platform of a large UK wealth manager. With her asset management experience, as well as a background of a degree in economics, an MBA from the University of London and CFA Institute certification in ESG investing, Mrs McHugh is well placed to bring her insights to the board of Ruffer Investment Company as well in her role as a regular guest on television including BBC World News and the Today Programme.

‘We welcome Colleen to the board of RICL. Apart from a keen independence and enquiring mind, Colleen brings breadth and depth of buy-side experience which complements perfectly the other skill sets on the board.

From the AGM, Nick Pink will take on the chair of RICL, Solomon Soquar will replace Nick as Senior Independent Director and Shelagh Mason and Susie Farnon will continue as chair of the Management Engagement and the Audit and Risk committees respectively.

I am supremely confident, when I step down at the AGM later this year, that I shall leave behind an exceptional and independently minded board to represent RICL shareholders.’

In compliance with paragraph 9.6.13 of the Financial Conduct Authority’s Listing Rules, the Company advises that Mrs McHugh is an independant director of Real Estate Credit Investments Limited, a company listed on the Main Market of the London Stock Exchange. There are no other disclosures required to made pursuant to paragraph 9.6.13 in connection with the appointment.
