Nova Capital Management has completed the acquisition of Shakespeare Monofilament UK with support from a £5.92 million asset-based lending facility.
The funding package provides Shakespeare with additional working capital and longer-term financing as the business moves into its next phase under Nova’s ownership. It includes a £2.5 million confidential invoice discounting facility, a £1.5 million inventory revolver, £222,000 secured against plant and machinery and a £1.7 million property term loan.
The structure gives the company access to funding across several parts of its asset base, rather than relying on a single form of borrowing. That provides greater flexibility around cash flow, stock and operational investment while also supporting the financing needs created by the acquisition.
The transaction formed part of Nova Capital Management’s acquisition of Shakespeare Company LLC in the US and Shakespeare Monofilament UK. With businesses in both the UK and US involved, the deal required coordination between lenders across two markets.
Completed in 2025, the acquisition places Shakespeare under the ownership of Nova Capital, an investment firm focused on complex carve-outs and corporate transactions. Nova operates from London and Chicago and has completed more than 75 investments with a combined deal value of £1.5 billion.
Shakespeare Monofilament UK is based in Fleetwood, Lancashire, and traces its history back to 1897. The company manufactures specialist engineered materials through three main product areas: Performance Monofilaments, Engineered Nylons and Conductive Fibres, and Polymers and Filaments. Its products are used across sectors including healthcare, automotive, military, marine electronics and consumer goods.
