Namibia’s oil and gas map sharpens focus on emerging investment opportunity

The Namibia International Energy Conference 2026 has presented a new activity map that gives investors a clearer view of the country’s developing oil and gas sector.

SEI (SEI)

Produced with Upstream Bio by S&P Global Energy, a Knowledge Partner of NIEC, in collaboration with RichAfrica Consultancy, the map highlights the blocks, discoveries and operator activity now shaping Namibia’s upstream landscape. It covers both offshore and onshore areas and is intended to show where exploration is concentrated, where recent discoveries have been made and where industry attention is likely to remain focused as Namibia moves towards first oil production.

Namibia’s oil and gas story has moved beyond early interest and is now being assessed in terms of timing, scale and development potential. A single visual overview of the country’s key blocks and exploration areas helps investors understand how activity is distributed across the basins and where the main points of commercial interest are emerging.

The map also underlines the increasing level of operator involvement in Namibia. Recent discoveries have raised the country’s profile, but the broader investment case depends on how operators, partners and stakeholders move these opportunities forward. By showing active areas and exploration hotspots together, the map helps frame Namibia as a market where activity is becoming more organised and easier to evaluate.
