Grafton Group Chadwicks to acquire Rooneys Homevalue Limited

Grafton Group plc

Grafton Group plc (LON:GFTU), the building materials distributor and DIY retailer with operations in Ireland, the UK, the Netherlands and Finland, has announced that Chadwicks has entered into an agreement to acquire Rooneys Homevalue Limited, a distributor of building materials and DIY products from a single location in Kells, County Meath.

Completion of this acquisition is subject to approval by the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission in Ireland.

Rooneys primarily supports trade customers operating in the residential repair, maintenance and improvement and new build markets. It also has a retail proposition serving a local market.  Revenue was €11.0 million (£9.4 million) in the financial year ending on 28 February 2023.

Commenting on the acquisition Eric Born, Chief Executive Officer of Grafton Group said today:

“Rooneys is an ideal fit with Chadwicks branch network in Ireland and will extend geographic coverage of the fragmented building materials distribution market into an important town within the Dublin commuter belt.  We see potential for the organic development of this business to support trade customers with a wider offering of building materials and construction products.”

Grafton Group plc is an international distributor of building materials to trade customers and has leading regional or national positions in the distribution markets in the UK, Ireland, the Netherlands and Finland. Grafton is also the market leader in the DIY, Home and Garden retailing market in Ireland and is the largest manufacturer of dry mortar and bespoke timber staircases in the UK.

Grafton trades from circa 360 branches and has circa 9,000 colleagues. The Group’s portfolio of brands includes Selco Builders Warehouse, Leyland SDM, MacBlair, TG Lynes, EuroMix and StairBox in the UK; Chadwicks and Woodie’s in Ireland; Isero and Polvo in the Netherlands; and IKH in Finland.
