Firering targets production uplift at Zambian lime project

Firering Strategic Minerals plc

Firering Strategic Minerals has entered a pivotal stage in the expansion of its Limeco operation in Zambia, with hot commissioning now under way at its second kiln. This milestone marks a deliberate move to increase production capacity and revenue potential at a time when demand for high-quality lime remains steady across regional markets.

The start of hot commissioning follows earlier mechanical and cold testing of Kiln 2, which is expected to be operational within two weeks. Firering plans to refine and optimise the output over several months before ramping up to full-scale commercial production. Kiln 1 continues to run, with Limeco maintaining a stockpile of around 5 000 tonnes of quicklime. Equipment for Kilns 3 and 4 is already on-site, allowing the company to move quickly on further expansion once Kiln 2 is stabilised.

At the same time, Firering is advancing the development of a high-purity calcium carbonate milling circuit, targeted for commissioning in the third quarter of 2026. This will diversify the product range and potentially open access to higher-margin segments within construction, agriculture and environmental sectors.

Firering Strategic Minerals plc (LON:FRG) is an emerging quicklime producer and critical minerals explorer, with operations in Zambia and West Africa.
