Cizzle Bio is taking a blood-based approach to lung cancer detection with its CIZ1B test, designed to complement low-dose CT screening.
The test looks for CIZ1B, a protein variant that the company says is strongly associated with lung cancer. Rather than replacing CT imaging, Cizzle Bio is positioning the test as an additional source of information for clinicians assessing patients at risk.
A blood sample can provide biomarker information alongside the physical images produced by an LDCT scan, potentially adding another layer to the assessment process.
Cizzle Bio’s test is already available through licensed healthcare providers in the Dallas-Fort Worth and San Antonio metropolitan areas. Expansion of provider access will therefore be central to the company’s ability to build adoption. The company is also developing the technology around published research into CIZ1B and lung cancer.
LDCT looks for physical abnormalities in the lungs. Cizzle Bio’s test looks for a biological marker in the blood.
