Asian stocks rose on Wednesday as stronger-than-expected corporate earnings boosted sentiment across global markets. South Korea led regional gains, with its benchmark index climbing more than 3%, while Japan’s Nikkei 225 also advanced.
The gains followed a positive session on Wall Street, where company results helped offset concerns about high technology valuations and the cost of artificial intelligence investment.
Around 86% of S&P 500 companies that had reported earnings had beaten analysts’ expectations, providing support for equities as the reporting season continued.
European markets also advanced on corporate earnings, although France’s financial position remained under pressure. The country’s 10-year government bond yield briefly reached 5%, its highest level since 2002, amid concerns about public finances and political instability.
Oil prices also moved higher, adding to inflation concerns, while investors continued to assess the outlook for interest rates and global economic growth.
