Arbuthnot Latham targets growing US expat wealth market

Arbuthnot Banking Group

Arbuthnot Latham has launched Global Direct Service, a discretionary investment offering for US-connected clients living in the UK.

The service is designed for people who remain subject to US tax and reporting rules while also managing their finances under the UK system. This includes US citizens, dual nationals and others with financial interests in both countries.

Cross-border clients often face restrictions that do not apply to standard UK investors. Some British investment funds can create additional US tax and reporting problems. Arbuthnot Latham has addressed this by building portfolios around directly owned securities rather than pooled funds.

The portfolios will hold global equities and government bonds. They will be managed by the same investment team responsible for the bank’s main discretionary investment service.

Each portfolio will reflect the client’s objectives, time horizon and appetite for risk. Strategic asset allocation will guide long-term positioning, while the investment team may make tactical changes as market conditions develop.

The minimum investment is £750,000, or about $1 million. This places the service firmly within the private wealth market and targets clients with larger, more complex financial arrangements.

Direct ownership gives clients a clearer view of the assets they hold. It may also reduce some of the tax complications linked to foreign pooled investment structures.

The launch strengthens Arbuthnot Latham’s wider offering to internationally mobile clients. Many US-connected households need more than investment management. Their requirements may also include private banking, lending, wealth planning and support with UK property purchases.

Arbuthnot Banking Group PLC (LON:ARBB), operating as Arbuthnot Latham, offers private and commercial banking products and services in the United Kingdom. Established in 1833, Arbuthnot Banking is headquartered in London, United Kingdom.
