Alien Metals sets out 12-month route to drill decisions at Georgina Basin

Alien Metals Ltd

Alien Metals has outlined a 12-month exploration programme for its wholly owned Georgina Basin Iron-Oxide Copper-Gold project in Australia’s Northern Territory, establishing a defined timetable for ranking more than 90 conceptual targets and determining where future drilling should be concentrated.

The project covers approximately 2,500 square kilometres, giving Alien Metals a substantial exploration footprint across a region considered prospective for IOCG mineralisation. Rather than moving directly into a broad drilling campaign, the company plans to use technical evaluation and additional geophysical work to narrow the target inventory and direct capital towards the areas with the strongest geological case.

Three prospects, Leichhardt East, Leichhardt West and Banks, have already been classified as drill-ready and will form an important part of the programme. Historical drilling across these areas identified geochemical anomalies that included uranium values of up to 0.23% U3O8, elevated copper over broad intervals and IOCG pathfinder elements including bismuth and silver.

Those results coincide with significant gravity anomalies that remain unexplained. Dense subsurface rocks can be associated with IOCG systems, making further interpretation of the geophysical data an important step before additional drilling capital is committed.

A detailed technical review of the three advanced prospects is scheduled for the first quarter of 2027. Alien Metals also intends to undertake targeted gravity work and geophysical inversion modelling, with the objective of improving its understanding of the anomalies and identifying further areas capable of progressing towards drilling.

By June 2027, Alien Metals expects to have completed project-wide target prioritisation, additional geophysical work and technical modelling, creating a basis for deciding the timing and priorities of a subsequent drilling campaign.

The Ranken area in the eastern part of the Georgina Basin tenure adds another dimension to the exploration strategy. Its geological units are considered comparable with formations associated with major copper and lead-zinc-silver deposits in the Mount Isa region. The company plans to review recently released exploration information from nearby activity and incorporate relevant findings into its geological assessment.

Alien Metals Ltd (LON:UFO) is a global minerals exploration and development company that will shortly make the transition to iron ore producer.
