Touchstone advances Trinidad drilling as Cascadura gas output increases

Touchstone Exploration

Touchstone Exploration is advancing a two-well drilling programme in Trinidad while increasing production from its existing Cascadura gas field, with activity across its portfolio focused on adding output and improving the performance of producing assets.

A drilling rig has been mobilised to Touchstone’s WD-4 block, where two drilling locations have been completed for a development campaign. The first well was expected to spud in mid-September, with both wells forming part of the company’s commitments under its WD-4 Lease Operatorship Agreement.

The WD-4 wells are targeting additional oil production and represent the next stage of development activity on the block. The programme adds new drilling to Touchstone’s existing production operations in Trinidad, giving the company the potential to increase output from its portfolio as the wells are completed and brought into production.

At the Ortoire Block, Touchstone is also working to increase production from the Cascadura field. Natural gas production at Cascadura rose from 6.6 million cubic feet per day in June to 12.6 million cubic feet per day in August.

The increase followed the start-up of the Cascadura booster compressor on 9 July. The compressor is designed to support higher gas throughput from the field and is now being optimised as Touchstone continues to develop the asset.

Touchstone has also carried out a solvent-squeeze treatment on the Cascadura-2ST1 well, which delivered additional production gains described by the company as promising. Further work is planned across the Cascadura wells, with workovers at Cascadura-3ST1 and a recompletion at Cascadura-5 scheduled for October.

The combination of new drilling and work on existing wells gives Touchstone several routes to increase production. The WD-4 programme is focused on new oil production, while activity at Cascadura is centred on improving gas output from infrastructure and wells already in operation.

The company is also continuing optimisation work at the Central Block as part of its wider Trinidad operations. This activity is aimed at improving the performance of existing assets alongside the development of new production.

Touchstone Exploration Inc (LON:TXP) is a Canadian-based, international upstream oil and gas company currently active in the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. Primera Oil and Gas is the Trinidadian subsidiary of Touchstone.
