Thor Energy is progressing its HY-Range natural hydrogen project in South Australia following soil-gas survey results that recorded hydrogen concentrations of up to 3%.
The company has identified Mallala, Lochiel and Crystal as priority areas for further investigation. It plans to undertake a 464-line-kilometre 2D seismic survey to refine its understanding of the geology and identify potential drilling targets. The survey is expected to begin in the fourth quarter of 2026.
Thor holds an 80.2% interest in HY-Range and has additional natural hydrogen and helium applications covering more than 37,000 square kilometres in South Australia.
The company is also advancing copper opportunities through its interest in EnviroCopper and its 80% stake in the Alford East project.
Thor has been restructuring its portfolio to focus on its priority exploration assets, including agreeing to sell its interest in the Molyhil tungsten project and disposing of a majority stake in its US uranium and vanadium assets.
The immediate priority is completing the seismic survey and assessing whether the results support drilling at HY-Range. Further exploration will be required to establish the project’s commercial potential.
Thor Energy PLC (LON:THR) is a leading exploration company focused on natural hydrogen and helium, with a significant footprint in the highly prospective South Australian region.
