Talking Medicines targets a growing data need around GLP-1 treatment journeys

Tern plc

Talking Medicines is focusing on a part of the GLP-1 market that is becoming harder for pharmaceutical companies to ignore: what patients say when treatment stops.

The company has analysed online conversations about GLP-1 discontinuation, identifying recurring discussion around returning appetite, the reappearance of “food noise”, weight regain and uncertainty over how results can be maintained after treatment ends.

Interest is no longer limited to starting treatment or losing weight. Consumers are also discussing maintenance, lower doses, longer treatment intervals and whether obesity should be managed as a chronic condition requiring ongoing treatment.

Talking Medicines’ DrugVoice platform analyses healthcare conversations and turns them into behavioural intelligence for pharmaceutical companies. The aim is to identify what patients and healthcare professionals are discussing, how their concerns change and which messages are gaining or losing relevance.

GLP-1 medicines provide a strong example of why that matters. The treatment journey does not end when a prescription is issued or when a patient stops taking a medicine. Questions can continue well beyond treatment, particularly around expectations, maintenance and what happens next.

Talking Medicines is seeking to capture that information before it is fully reflected in traditional market research. DrugVoice is designed to monitor real-world discussion and identify behavioural signals, consumer and healthcare professional personas, emotional drivers and changes in conversation patterns.
