MeyGen sets the pace for tidal stream energy growth

Ampeak Energy Limited

MeyGen is one of the world’s leading tidal stream power projects. It is proving that clean electricity can be generated from the natural movement of the tides, using turbines installed beneath the surface of the sea.

Phase 1 showed that tidal stream power can work in real operating conditions. That gives MeyGen a stronger position as it looks towards the next stage of growth. The priority now is Phase 2. This is where the project moves from proving the technology to building it at greater scale.

Tidal power has a clear advantage. Tides are predictable. While output from some renewable technologies depends on changing weather, tidal flows follow known cycles. This gives tidal stream power a useful role in long-term energy planning.

Ampeak Energy Limited (LON:AMP) a developer, owner and operator of sustainable energy projects. Transitioning to become a major Independent Power Producer (IPP) with a project development arm specialising in Battery Storage and Tidal Stream generation.
