JD Sports Fashion appoints Helen Ashton as a Non-Executive Director

JD Sports Fashion Plc (LON:JD), the leading retailer of sports, fashion and outdoor brands, has announced that Helen Ashton has been appointed as a Non-Executive Director, with effect from 15 November 2021.

Helen has 30 years of experience of working in public and private equity backed businesses and is a qualified Chartered Management Accountant. As the former CFO of ASOS plc, Helen has deep knowledge of high growth, digital fashion in an International arena. She has also held executive level roles in ASDA, Barclays and Lloyds Banking Group and CEO positions in high growth private equity backed businesses.

JD Sports cuts FY27 profit guidance as Q2 sales decline

JD Sports delivered FY26 sales of £12.7bn, up 10.5%, with profit before tax down 12.0% to £629m. The group outlined FY27 priorities focused on product range, store optimisation, e-commerce, AI and personalisation.

JD Sports Fashion plc said Chair Andrew Higginson will step down at the conclusion of the company’s AGM on 21 July 2026. Darren Shapland will serve as Interim Chair while the Board conducts a search for a permanent successor.

JD Sports Fashion plc will return £200m to shareholders through a two-tranche share buyback programme in FY27. The first £100m tranche begins immediately and is expected to complete by 31 July 2026.
