INTERVIEW: Why Ilika M50 miniature batteries will empower MedTech

Ilika plc (LON:IKA) CFO Steve Boydell joins DirectorsTalk to shed some more light on the M50 batteries. Steve explains the dimensions, capacity and types of devices they will power. How these batteries will be re-charged, safety and the benefits the types of devices powered by the M50 will have over existing medical devices.

Ilika plc is a pioneer in solid state battery technology and materials innovation. Ilika’s range of solid state Stereax® batteries includes miniaturised batteries for powering wireless sensors deployed in applications ranging from hostile industrial environments to medical implants. Ilika has also recently extended its roadmap to develop larger format cells suitable for providing automotive power. Its Stereax® products were developed using Ilika’s unique high throughput materials development platform, which it deploys in collaborations with global OEM’s. The platform enables functional materials to be made, characterised and tested up to 100 times faster than traditional techniques, creating robust datasets to enhance intellectual property value, optimise product performance and reduce time to market.
