Ilika’s Stereax solid-state batteries will be represented by Cirtec Medical at MD&M Midwest 2026 in Minneapolis, as the companies continue to develop the medical device applications for the technology.
The event takes place on 28th and 29th October 2026 at the Minneapolis Convention Center and brings together companies involved in medical technology, advanced manufacturing, automation, design, plastics and packaging. Ilika’s Stereax technology will be represented at the event through Cirtec Medical.
Stereax is Ilika’s miniature solid-state battery technology, designed for applications where battery size and integration are important. The batteries are measured in millimetres and are intended to support the development of smaller active implantable medical devices.
The appearance at MD&M Midwest follows progress in Ilika’s relationship with Cirtec. Cirtec has been involved in the manufacturing and development of Stereax batteries, with Ilika having completed the manufacturing process qualification for Stereax at Cirtec’s facility in Lowell, Massachusetts.
Ilika began production of Stereax batteries for product testing and initial deliveries during the previous financial year. The company has also secured commercial orders from Cirtec, providing a route for its solid-state battery technology to move from development into customer applications.
The medical device sector is a specific target market for Stereax. Its small size is intended to help medical device manufacturers develop smaller implantable products while maintaining the power requirements of the device.
Ilika has previously identified applications including active implantable medical devices and other specialist healthcare equipment. The company continues to work with customers on integrating Stereax batteries into their products.
Ilika plc (LON:IKA) is a pioneer in solid state battery technology enabling solutions for applications in Industrial IoT, MedTech, Electric Vehicles and Consumer Electronics.
