Hercules works with industry partners to support Scotland’s infrastructure workforce

Hercules PLC is working with industry partners to address skills and recruitment challenges facing the infrastructure sector, while supporting employment opportunities for people looking to enter the construction industry.

The company recently brought together members of its team and industry representatives in Edinburgh to discuss how Scotland can develop the workforce needed to deliver future infrastructure projects. The event, jointly hosted by Hercules and Stephen Slessor, focused on the need for greater collaboration across the sector to attract talent, develop skills and ensure workers are available to meet demand.

The discussions highlighted the importance of looking beyond individual businesses and taking a wider approach to workforce development. With significant infrastructure requirements ahead, collaboration between employers and industry organisations will be important in building the skills base needed to deliver projects.

Hercules is also supporting access to construction careers through its work with Skanska and Seetec. The organisations recently held an employability and careers insight session at HMP Maidstone, helping participants explore potential employment opportunities in construction following their release.

Nine participants attended the session, which included information about work being delivered by Hercules and Skanska, including opportunities connected to the Lower Thames Crossing project. Participants also completed a mock Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) test, with all nine successfully passing.

The initiative aims to help participants understand the opportunities available within the construction sector and take practical steps towards employment. Feedback from the session highlighted the value of providing access to career information and support for people seeking a fresh start.

Hercules plc (LON:HERC) is a collaborative, innovative company delivering services of the highest standards within the Civil Engineering sector of the construction industry. Hercules Academy provides a comprehensive range of courses designed to equip individuals with the essential skills and knowledge required for a long and successful career in the construction industry.
