Hercules secures further £5m of UK water sector work

Hercules plc has secured approximately £5m in new civil engineering and infrastructure contracts in the UK water sector, adding to its existing workload as water companies progress investment programmes under the AMP8 regulatory period.

The contracts have been awarded to the group’s Construction Services division, with most of the work located in the Thames Water region. The projects were secured during the fourth quarter of the financial year ended 30 September 2026, and work on most of the contracts has already started. The company expects the majority of the projects to be completed over the following six months.

The awards provide additional visibility over near-term activity and extend Hercules’ presence in the water infrastructure market. The work is expected to run across the final quarter of FY2026 and into the first half of the following financial year, supporting the division’s workload as the group pursues further opportunities in the sector.

The latest contracts build on a series of water sector awards secured during 2026. In July, Hercules announced £6.1m of additional civil engineering projects across the Thames Water and Anglian Water regions. Those awards included approximately £4.5m of work in the Thames Water region and £1.6m in the Anglian Water region, taking Civil Projects contract awards above £15.7m during the first nine months of the financial year.

The further £5m of contracts extends this pipeline of work and reflects the continuing availability of civil engineering packages within regulated water infrastructure programmes. However, the company has not disclosed the individual sites, end clients or detailed scopes of the latest awards, meaning the contracts should be viewed as a collection of projects rather than a single £5m scheme.

The awards sit within AMP8, the five-year regulatory investment period running from April 2025 to March 2030. The programme is intended to support improvements across the UK’s water and wastewater infrastructure, including water quality, environmental performance and the resilience of supply.
