Hercules builds a clear role in construction skills training

The construction industry needs more skilled workers, and it needs them sooner rather than later. Apprenticeships and college courses are important, but they are not enough on their own. The sector also needs adults who can retrain, gain practical qualifications and move into construction roles without spending years outside the workforce.

Through its Academy, Hercules is directly involved in training people for construction and infrastructure work. The academy was established in 2023 and officially opened in 2024. It provides accredited training for new entrants and existing workers, with courses covering plant operation, health and safety, utilities and tailored industry training.

Construction companies need workers who are not only interested in the sector, but ready to work safely and effectively on site. Hercules Academy is designed to give learners hands-on experience in a setting that reflects real construction conditions.

Adult reskilling is an important part of the opportunity. Many people outside construction already have valuable workplace skills. They may understand timekeeping, teamwork, problem-solving, communication and working under pressure. With targeted training, those skills can be turned into useful construction capabilities.

The academy also supports existing workers who need to update or expand their skills. Construction work changes over time, and workers often need new qualifications or refreshed training to stay useful and compliant. By offering both in-person and online learning, Hercules Academy can serve different types of learners and different employer needs.

Hercules plc (LON:HERC) is a collaborative, innovative company delivering services of the highest standards within the Civil Engineering sector of the construction industry. Hercules Academy provides a comprehensive range of courses designed to equip individuals with the essential skills and knowledge required for a long and successful career in the construction industry.
