Genflow Biosciences is advancing its canine longevity programme as it prepares to present findings from its SLAB study at the Animal Longevity Summit 2026 in Toronto.
The SLAB study, which stands for Sarcopenia and Longevity in Aged Beagles, is assessing Genflow’s experimental gene therapy in older dogs. The study enrolled 24 beagles aged over 10 years and divided them into four groups, including treated animals and untreated controls.
Early results at the three-month stage showed higher survival among dogs receiving the therapy compared with the control groups. Genflow also reported no adverse events during this period. These findings are preliminary, but they give the company an initial safety and survival signal as the study progresses. The next key point will be the six-month dataset, which should provide a clearer indication of whether the early differences are sustained over a longer period.
Genflow is also analysing biological age markers and muscle data collected during the study. These measures are intended to show whether the therapy is having an effect on ageing beyond survival alone. The biological age analysis could help indicate whether treated animals are showing changes in underlying ageing processes, while the muscle data will provide information on age-related physical decline. Together, these measures should give Genflow a broader view of the therapy’s potential effect.
Genflow’s presentation at the Animal Longevity Summit will give the company an opportunity to discuss the programme with researchers, veterinarians, biotechnology companies and investors focused on extending healthy lifespan. The event is positioned as the first conference dedicated exclusively to animal longevity, making it directly relevant to Genflow’s work in canine ageing.
