Fidelity European Trust Plc (LON:FEV)  run by Portfolio Managers Sam Morse and Marcel Stötzel has been awarded Best European Trust by Citywire in their annual performance award for UK-listed companies.

The Trust came out top against three other contenders in this category, namely Henderson European Trust, JPMorgan European Growth & Income and The European Smaller Companies Trust. 

The performance data provided by Citywire shows the three-year total shareholder return for Fidelity European Trust is 29.07% and the three-year NAV total return is 27.46%, both ahead of its nearest rivals.

The panel of four judges consisted of Charlotte Cuthbertson of Asset Value Investors, Ewan Lovett-Turner of Deutsche Numis, James Burns of Evelyn Partners and Mick Gilligan of Killik & Co. Citywire’s head of research Frank Talbot oversaw the performance data.

Claire Dwyer, Associate Director of investment trusts at Fidelity collected the award in person on behalf of the portfolio managers.

The Trust invests predominantly in continental European equities (and their related securities) and up to 20% of gross assets may be invested in companies outside of the continent. It follows a consistent bottom-up approach, seeking to identify companies able to grow dividends over a three to five-year horizon.
