Device Authority is moving KeyScaler to a usage-based pricing model, giving customers more flexibility as machine identity requirements expand across connected devices, operational technology and other non-human identities.
The change replaces the need to commit to fixed device volumes in advance. Instead, customers use credits based on the identity operations they perform, including provisioning identities, rotating credentials, enrolling certificates and adding vulnerability or software bill of materials data.
Fixed licensing can create problems when customers cannot accurately predict device volumes. Companies may pay for unused capacity if deployments are delayed or smaller than expected. If deployments grow faster than planned, they may need additional procurement or licensing before extending security controls.
Usage-based pricing reduces that friction. Customers can increase or reduce consumption in line with deployment activity without relying on long-term forecasts.
Device Authority is also making the full KeyScaler capability set available under the new model rather than requiring separate licence commitments for individual functions. This gives customers more freedom to test additional use cases and extend the platform into new parts of their device estate.
A customer could, for example, trial KeyScaler on a new product line or apply additional intelligence to an existing fleet without first renegotiating its licence structure. That may make it easier for Device Authority to expand within existing customer environments where adoption previously depended on additional budget or procurement decisions.
The model may also improve accessibility for organisations with smaller device estates. These customers can face the same security and compliance pressures as larger operators but may be less willing to make substantial upfront licensing commitments.
