Batteries are becoming a more important part of modern defence equipment. In a video discussion with Major General (Retired) Robin Anderton-Brown from Morphose, Nick Russel from Denchi and John Tinson from Ilika, the role of batteries in today’s defence applications is presented as a practical issue for equipment performance, mission reliability and technology adoption.
Defence users need batteries that work in demanding conditions. Equipment may need to be carried by soldiers, fitted into vehicles, used in the field for long periods or relied on in situations where failure has serious consequences. That makes battery selection an important part of system design, not just a supporting detail.
More equipment depends on reliable energy storage, from portable systems to specialist platforms. As defence technology becomes more electronic, connected and mobile, the need for safer, lighter and more dependable batteries continues to grow.
