CMC Markets is expanding its technology offering with the launch of a simulated proprietary trading programme and a new ChatGPT integration for UK CFD clients, adding two new ways for the FTSE 250-listed broker to broaden its digital services.
The company has announced CMC Funded, a simulated proprietary trading evaluation programme developed through a strategic partnership. The programme is designed to identify and support trading talent, with Verichain appointed as its first referral partner. Successful participants will receive an opportunity to interview through Verichain, an AI-powered recruitment platform connecting candidates with companies across finance, trading and technology.
CMC Funded will provide each participant with a $100,000 simulated trading evaluation. The account size, performance target and risk parameters are set in advance and are consistent across participants. Those who meet the programme’s requirements will receive a Verified Trader badge and an interview opportunity through Verichain.
The programme gives participants access to a range of global markets, including prediction-market events, through a single simulated account. However, CMC Funded operates separately from CMC Markets and is not a regulated product or service provided by the company. It does not open live brokerage accounts, hold client money or execute customer trades.
The move provides CMC Markets with an additional route into the proprietary trading sector, while the partnership with Verichain creates a connection between simulated trading performance and potential employment opportunities. The programme is expected to launch publicly on 1 October 2026, according to previously published programme information.
Alongside CMC Funded, CMC Markets has introduced a separate technology development through its connection with ChatGPT. UK CFD clients can now connect supported CMC accounts to ChatGPT and use conversational prompts to retrieve and explore account and market information.
The initial ChatGPT integration is read-only. Clients can access information including account balances, account values, positions, pending orders, supported products, prices and historical market data. They can also request information such as available markets and historical price charts.
The integration does not allow ChatGPT to place, amend or cancel orders, open or close positions, transfer funds or make other changes to a client’s CMC account. Trading activity therefore remains within CMC’s existing platform rather than being carried out through the AI connection.
The initial rollout is focused on UK CFD clients, with spread betting accounts not currently supported. Pricing availability can depend on the relevant instrument, account and market-data permissions, meaning some information may be delayed rather than real time.
CMC Markets plc (LON:CMCX) is a UK-based financial services company that offers online trading in shares, spread betting, contracts for difference and foreign exchange across world markets.
