Chinese stocks rose on Wednesday as technology shares strengthened and markets focused on renewed US-China trade discussions.

The Shanghai Composite gained 0.71 per cent to 3,891.6, while the Shenzhen Component rose 1.26 per cent to 13,454.7. The CSI 300 added 0.7 per cent, ending four consecutive sessions of declines.

Technology stocks led the move. The ChiNext Composite advanced 1.96 per cent and the Star 50 index climbed 4.1 per cent. Cambricon Technologies rose 5.60 per cent, SMIC gained 5.26 per cent, Zhongji Innolight advanced 3.53 per cent and NAURA Technology added 2.17 per cent.

Trade talks provided another area of focus. US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said he would meet Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng over the weekend. The talks are expected to take place ahead of a planned meeting between Chinese President Xi Jinping and US President Donald Trump the following week.
