Chemring wins $170m US defence contract for Roke Radar Altimeter technology

CHG

Chemring Group plc (LON:CHG) has announced that its UK subsidiary, Roke Manor Research (Roke), has signed a multi-year strategic partnering agreement with a major US Prime Contractor for the supply of its COTS Nav-Sync Miniature Radar Altimeter (MRA) product.

This agreement is expected to be worth at least US$170 million over the first five years and is subsequently expected to extend to at least 2035 as part of the continued relationship. Roke has received an initial $16 million production order covering the first 12 months of the agreement. Deliveries will commence in October 2026.

With its compact design and integrated antenna, Roke’s Nav-Sync MRA is the smallest and lowest mass radar altimeter of its type currently available for use on high-speed platforms and uncrewed air vehicles. Roke’s proprietary software algorithms and digital signal processing hardware enable highly accurate altitude measurement over land and sea when operating in high speed, low altitude, and complex environments.

Michael Ord, Chief Executive of Chemring, commented:

“This agreement with a major US Prime Contractor is another milestone in Roke’s strategy to grow revenues from its growing portfolio of world-leading defence products and systems. It also demonstrates that, despite continued near-term headwinds in its domestic defence market, Roke continues to make progress in developing its international business, positioning it well for growth in the future.”
