Biotech Growth Trust targets opportunity in global medical innovation

BIOG

Biotech Growth Trust invests in growth-stage biotechnology companies developing new treatments across some of healthcare’s most important areas. Its portfolio includes businesses working in central nervous system disorders, oncology, cardiovascular disease, and gene and cell therapies.

The strategy is managed by OrbiMed, a specialist global healthcare investment firm. Its biotechnology team combines investment experience with scientific and medical expertise, including more than 30 analysts with MD or PhD qualifications. In a sector where clinical evidence, regulatory progress and commercial potential can determine company value, that specialist knowledge supports a focused approach to selecting opportunities.

The Trust invests globally, giving it access to biotechnology companies across multiple markets. OrbiMed’s venture capital capabilities also widen the opportunity set by providing access to emerging businesses at an earlier stage of development.

The portfolio is diversified across biotechnology businesses developing new treatments and technologies. Previous investments have included Immunomedics, Vertex Pharmaceuticals and Argenx. The strategy focuses on companies that have the potential to establish strong positions in important treatment areas and, in some cases, benefit from first-mover advantages.

Biotech Growth Trust plc (LON:BIOG) seeks capital appreciation through investment in the worldwide biotechnology industry. The Company and the Company’s Portfolio Manager believe that there is a high congruence between companies that seek to act responsibly and those that succeed in building long-term shareholder value.
