Berkeley Group announce three new non-executive directors

Berkeley Group Holdings plc (LON:BKG) has announced the appointment of William Jackson, Elizabeth Adekunle and Andy Kemp as new Non-executive Directors of the Company. The Company has previously announced that Adrian Li will retire from the Board at the conclusion of the 2021 AGM. With three new directors joining the Board Berkeley is also announcing that, after nine years of service, Baroness Fleet, Veronica Wadley will also be retiring from the Board.

William Jackson, who will join the join the Board with effect from 5 January 2021, is Managing Partner of Bridgepoint, one of Europe’s leading private equity firms. He has led the firm since 2001. William has served on a wide range of UK and international boards.  William recently stood down as Senior Independent Director of British Land plc and leaves its Board on 31 March 2021. William, who has extensive property knowledge, also brings broad commercial, financial and public company experience to the Board. William will join the Nomination Committee on his appointment.

The Venerable Elizabeth Adekunle will also join the Board with effect from 5 January 2021. Elizabeth is Archdeacon of Hackney for the Diocese of London. She currently sits on various bodies within the Metropolitan Police and regional police forces advising on ethical and diversity matters and chairs the Monuments and Plaques Committee of St Paul’s Cathedral. Elizabeth has considerable experience of social and ethical matters and will bring a valuable perspective on the potential of urban regeneration and good place-making to improve the lives of those living in the communities within which Berkeley operates.

Andy Kemp is a senior partner at PwC in London and will join the Board on 1 July 2021 following his retirement from that firm. He currently chairs PwC’s Non-executive director advisory programme and was previously a member of the Audit and Risk Assurance executive board. He has a deep understanding of accounting, risk and regulatory matters and has advised a wide range of public company boards.  Andy will join the Audit Committee on his appointment.

Baroness Fleet, Veronica Wadley, joined the Board in January 2012 and has served as a member of the Nominations Committee. Veronica will retire from the Board on 31 January 2021.
