A distinct approach to scaling new battery technology

Ilika Plc

Ilika plc operates with a clear-eyed recognition of how to extract value from the solid-state battery sector without the direct capital and operational risks associated with traditional manufacturing expansion. Ilika has focused attention on cultivating two product lines: Stereax batteries, designed for the compact and demanding needs of medical devices and wireless sensors, and Goliath batteries, targeting large-format applications such as electric vehicles and consumer appliances.

Stereax, their micro-battery technology, has recently transitioned to commercial production under a ten-year agreement with Cirtec Medical in the US. This partnership moves Ilika from technical development to the delivery phase, with the first batches now scheduled for lead customers. The process milestone, achieved through technical validation at Cirtec’s facility, underscores not just the versatility of Stereax but also the company’s commitment to meeting stringent industry requirements, particularly in medical devices where size, safety, and reliability dominate procurement choices.

The Goliath business, meanwhile, focuses on scaling up production for automotive and consumer use through a highly automated pilot line. The recent installation and commissioning of new equipment not only boosts output but brings a level of process consistency that is essential for meeting customer validation protocols and de-risking future industrial ramp-ups. –

Ilika plc (LON:IKA) is a pioneer in solid state battery technology enabling solutions for applications in Industrial IoT, MedTech, Electric Vehicles and Consumer Electronics.
