Likewise builds scale as flooring market opportunity expands

Likewise Group is continuing to strengthen its position in the UK flooring distribution market, with management pointing to further operational investment as the business moves towards, and potentially beyond, its £200m revenue ambition.

The Birmingham-based group reported sales of £163.1m for the year to 31 December 2025, up from £149.8m a year earlier. The increase gives investors a clear signal that the company’s growth strategy is gaining traction, supported by a wider operating footprint, improving margins and continued investment in logistics capacity.

Profitability also improved during the year. Gross margin rose to 31.1%, compared with 30.7 per cent in 2024, while underlying pre-tax profit increased to £3.1m from £2m. The margin movement is significant because it suggests the group is not relying solely on higher sales volumes to support progress. Instead, it is also showing evidence of better operational efficiency and pricing discipline within a competitive market.

Momentum has carried into the current year. The group said sales rose 15% in the first quarter of 2026, with April maintaining a similar trend. While management acknowledged that global uncertainty makes the months ahead harder to predict, the company believes its supplier relationships, supply chain expertise and balance sheet strength leave it well placed to continue gaining market share.

Likewise now operates from 13 locations, with an additional hub in Leeds, an extension in Newport and increased cutting capacity in Derby all contributing to greater operational headroom. The group has also been investing in its delivery fleet, with 77 new and replacement trucks being purchased between January 2025 and the end of 2026. By autumn 2026, the fleet is expected to total 160 vehicles.

Likewise Group PLC (LON:LIKE) is a distributor of floorcoverings and matting and has the opportunity to consolidate the domestic and commercial floorcovering markets to become one of the UK’s largest distributors in this sector.
